A COMMUNITY OF BELIEVERS ADHERING TO THE QUR’AN AND THE LIFE TRADITIONS OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD (saw)
Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam, located in the historic East Atlanta Community, is the largest and oldest Islamic community in Metro Atlanta. We are a community of believers adhering to the Qur’an and the life traditions of Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessing Be Upon Him).
Imam Mansoor Sabree is the resident Imam of the community and his leadership is supported by four generations of Muslims. Our community has over 3000 supporters, 500 families and close to 200 students at Mohammed Schools.
The Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam is widely considered to be the largest and most progressive Islamic community in the city. The membership continues to expand and the amount of volunteer and charitable services offered have expanded steadily in recent years.
Because of our religious and civic foundation, many local and national associations, agencies, institutions and international entities seek out the Atlanta Masjid’s expertise to model programs of self-help, community, human and economic development. These programs, designed to uplift the human spirit and well- being of our nation’s citizenry are products of the visionary leadership of Imam W. D. Mohammed (d. 2008). The inspiration and guidance of this leadership is firmly and deeply rooted in our strict adherence to the tenets of Al-Islam and the guidance of Prophet Muhammad to whom the Quran was revealed over 1400 years ago (Peace be Upon Him).
‣ FAITH IN G-D
Atlanta Masjid continues to strengthen community life with programs that offer high quality Islamic education based upon our Islamic heritage and legacy through a new center of learning with The Faith Institute.
‣ SIMPLE LIVING
At a time when many communities across America and locally in Georgia are losing neighbors to foreclosure, Atlanta Masjid assists with community development activities to develop affordable housing and sustainable communities for the benefit of our neighborhood and associate communities.
‣ HARD LABOR
Community life at Atlanta Masjid is supported through the hard work of many volunteers, skilled leaders and staff. Through a collective leadership the Atlanta Masjid continues to reach new heights in education, civic involvement, interfaith, and international relations.
‣ HIGH THINKING
For more than 30 years, the Atlanta Masjid has attracted the minds of highly educated university graduates and accomplished entrepreneurs. The high thinking of these community workers is applied daily to educate nearly 200 Prekindergarten – 12th grade students at Mohammed Schools of Atlanta and countless other community inspired activities.
